Tsunami Warnings from Japan to Hawaii

An 8.8 magnitude earthquake just rocked the waters off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, and it wasn’t quiet. Tsunami warnings rolled out fast — from Japan to Hawaii, even parts of the U.S. West Coast were on alert.

In Russia’s Kuril Islands, waves as high as 4 meters flooded towns. Japan evacuated nearly a million people, and tsunami waves reached Hokkaido. Honolulu and nearby islands braced for 6-foot surges, while the U.S. coast prepped for strong currents and flooding.

No major casualties yet, but plenty of damage and panic.

Bottom line?
The ocean’s angry. If you’re near the coast — move inland and don’t wait for a second warning. Tsunamis don’t knock twice.
