OpenAI has quietly removed all public references to its high-profile partnership with former Apple designer Jony Ive, following a trademark dispute. The move comes after filings by LoveFrom, Ive’s design firm, reportedly raised concerns over the use of branding or language associated with the collaboration.
The joint project, which aimed to develop a consumer AI device, was first announced in 2023 and sparked significant industry interest due to Ive’s iconic hardware design legacy and OpenAI’s technological influence. However, OpenAI’s website no longer mentions the partnership, and previous blog content appears to have been altered or taken down.
