War 2' box office collection day 7: The Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR film misses the Rs 200 crore mark on Wednesday, drops further

War 2 stormed into theatres on August 14 with all the flair of a festival release, facing off against Rajinikanth’s Coolie in one of the year’s biggest box office clashes. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, the film began on a thunderous note with Independence Day giving it the extra push, but the euphoria dimmed quickly once the long weekend was over.

The numbers tell a dramatic story. The film opened at ₹52 crore on Thursday, with the Hindi version leading at ₹29 crore while the Telugu debut was an impressive ₹22.75 crore. By Friday, it climbed to ₹57.85 crore, yet the cracks were already visible as Telugu collections slid to nearly half. Saturday and Sunday held steady around the ₹33 crore mark, but the first Monday crash was merciless with revenues dropping by 73 percent compared to Sunday.

By day five, the film managed only ₹8.75 crore, a stark contrast to its grand opening. Discounted tickets on Tuesday salvaged a modest ₹9 crore, but Wednesday limped in with ₹5.5 crore, leaving the total at ₹199 crore across languages, just shy of the coveted 200 mark. Meanwhile, Coolie has marched past comfortably, standing at ₹222.5 crore domestically.

Ayan Mukerji’s directorial spectacle was meant to be a box office juggernaut, yet mixed reviews and inconsistent word of mouth may have clipped its wings. For a film that brought together such star power, the trajectory feels more like a cautionary tale about modern blockbusters: the opening weekend may roar, but only audience loyalty decides whether the momentum survives.
